Philadelphia

My Campbell and O'Donnell family came to America in 1883 and settled in Coaldale and Tamaqua, PA with their coal mining family who came before them. Condy and Susan died in Philadelphia - Condy in 1899 and Susan in 1929. They had nine children and possibly more that we don't know about. They were married in Glenties in 1870 and sometime after that moved to Glasgow before coming to America. Some names associated with this family are Mundy, Malloy, Brennan, McDevitt, Toland, Browne from County Donegal.

Hi,

Just wondering who your Malloy relatives are. I am related to the Philip Malloy family that immigrated from Donegal to Tamaqua/ Mahanoy City, PA in the 1850s, then moved to Wilkes-Barre, PA in the 1880s.

Hi,

Me too. I'm related to Philip Malloy as well. He was married to Annie O'Donnell who was the daughter of Edward O'Donnell of Glenties - Edward is a brother to my great grandmother Susan. I wasn't aware of them living in Wilke-Barre. I heard from my mother that he owned a business in Philadelphia and that my mother Kathryn DeMaine worked in a candy store at 24th & Aspen in Philadelphia that they owned. I believe Philip is buried with family in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA. Please tell me how you are related. Were the Malloys also from Glenties?

Exciting-
Kathy

My Mother's Family, both sides, originated in County Donegal. We are Brennans from Shallogan, Fintown and Gallaghers from Dungloe. My Grandparents emigrated seperately in the early 1900's to Pa and NJ. Our family is now centrally located in and around Philadelphia. Being Irish Catholics- there's a bunch of us. Several of my family have visited the "Homeplace" over the years.

Hi,

My family is from the Glenties, Kilraine area of Donegal. Anna Brennan known as Nancy was a witness to the marriage of my great grandparents, Condy and Susan Campbell of Glenties in 1870. She was later married to Francis McDevitt also of Glenties. The last visit was in 2003 - need to return - just love the area.

All the Best -
Kathy
